I have Yosemite on my Macbook Air from early 2014. After installing the latest downloaded driver, the TRENDnet USB GigE adapter immediately connected to the network and started working . However, there is a difference between this USB adapter and the Apple Thunderbolt adapter. If you use multiple network profiles, you must manually and separately boot the device in each profile. This differs from the Apple Thunderbolt GigE adapter, which automatically downloads all existing and new profiles. For example, if you are creating an entirely new network profile, you must press + and then select the TRENDnet adapter to add to the profile. Once added, it immediately lights up and connects to the network. How do you know what to do? If the profile doesn't include an adapter, the adapter doesn't light up or wake up when you plug it into a USB port. I quickly found that the adapter wasn't listed in the profile and added it. If there's one thing I'd like to change about TRENDnet, it's that the device automatically boots into the currently active profile so the adapter "just works" like an Apple Thunderbolt adapter. However, the TRENDnet driver is automatically loaded into the currently active profile during driver installation. It simply won't install into existing profiles or new network profiles that you might create. Please note that I would use the Apple Thunderbolt Adapter for my purposes, except I am using this port for a second monitor. So the only thing left is the GigE USB adapter if I use a second monitor. I'm also a little surprised that Apple doesn't offer a USB version of its GigE adapter precisely because of this problem. However, I'm glad this adapter works as well as it does.
