Works well but no software.

First bad news. It comes with no software or drivers. You are expected to provide the software. And the download link for the background replacement software they say is part of it in the ad only works with the very latest AVX command set. I couldn't use this software with my old quad core processor. Then the camera app that comes with Windows 10 is only good for the most basic shooting needs. Therefore, you will need to find and provide your own streaming or recording software. You'll likely pay extra for decent versions of these. I'd like at least some suggestions in the guide other than just using the poorly designed default windows program with it. So you will have to spend some time looking for and possibly buying your own software to use this camera. You just have to find the right software. As for my 3D printer that I want to use, it will probably be Octoprint and Octolapse. I also understand that this camera cannot be powered from a standard USB port. It must be connected to a powered USB port that can output more than standard 100-500mA USB ports. If you don't have a powered USB port, you need to make sure you don't use it with the ring light on, as it draws more power than a standard USB port can handle. Most PCs have one or more dedicated USB ports (often referred to as charging or lightning-fast charging ports) that are designed to provide more power to both devices and communications. Many older laptops don't have these powered or charging USB ports, or if they do, it's usually just one of them. A camera mount is useless in almost every situation unless you put it on a tripod. The loosely attached stand that comes with the kit doesn't attach to anything, just balance on a laptop screen or sit on a table. I couldn't mount it on my monitor and the stand just fell loose on the table. So I attached it to a spare tripod I had and it's more stable now. There is nothing in the kit that attaches to anything other than a tripod, which you must purchase or already have. The light ring is almost useless unless you're trying to shoot in the dark. There are 3 settings and only the brightest setting counts and then you have a bright light in your eyes. Use good room or area lighting instead. And as mentioned, you must be using a powered USB port to use it, as it draws a lot more power than standard USB ports provide. Now the good news. If you are using Windows, the drivers will be installed automatically. I don't know if it's on Mac or Linux, but Windows 10 just installed it automatically. Also, the maximum resolution is 1080p at 30 frames per second. For me this is perfect for most of my videos. I will eventually use it to create time lapse videos by installing it on a 3D printer. But right now I'm making my videos from a tripod. It has quite a long cable, and since it's USB, I can record to my laptop's hard drive with plenty of storage, or plug it in and use with raspberry pie. It's only USB 2 and sometimes it lags a bit due to the slower USB2 connection. To sum up, this little camera seems to fit the needs of most stationary web streaming or still cameras better than the actual video camera I was planning to use. Purpose of use. It's a good price for what it does and I recommend it if you understand that YOU need to provide software for it.
