Revainrating 5 out of 5

I don't know what I would do without it.

Definitely my most used lens. This was my first lens since switching from Canon, where I shot 90% of the time at 50mm f/1.8. It took a little getting used to, but I really like these focal lengths. I usually only use it for wide range (24-35) because after that I have a 50mm f/1.8 and an 80-200 f/2.8, but if I can only get one lens to work it's this. I can get pretty good compressed FOV footage at the 85-120 end and capture the entire frame at the 24mm end. At first glance, the variable aperture may be annoying, but for a full-frame camera, 85 @ f/5.6 has a lot to offer. Separate the subject and background when you have a halfway decent composition. If bokeh is your thing, you probably already have a 70-200 f/2.8 anyway. This thing is sharp enough unless you're shooting professional landscapes or fashion where you need ultra-super pixel clarity. To do this, you will have to spend another thousand or two. Tone/color reproduction is good enough for most people, although you'll likely notice a difference if you're used to basic or high quality zooms. All in all, buy it used for around $200 or whatever the current price is, you won't regret it.
