Review on Enhance DisplayPort Monitor Compatibility with the Plugable Adapter by Travis Carter

missing key ingredients, otherwise useful

This product is an anomaly in today's market because it partially allows the Apple Mac M1 laptop buyer (me) to use two external large screens to the fullest. Resolution with the Mac lid open. For me it's the Dell P2719H (27 inch flat screen, perfect for most business users). But since all modern Macs prefer HDMI (and Apple popularized the format), there's little reason for Mac users to pay for the legacy Displayport 1.4 port format, which works well on older PCs (and isn't compatible with modern Macs ). Plugins must be platform specific! For the Mac community, the old PC display ports should be abandoned in favor of an Ethernet port and a few USB 3.0 ports. Add an audio port and you have something that really rivals the Belkin INC002ttBK. Thumbs down, no reason to consider a dock without ethernet, USB ports (for mouse, keys, printer, scanner, etc.) and an audio port, why even make such a device?

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
