Keep 'em flavored, pass 'em on!

I have been building up my cast iron collection since 1973 with a set of 3 pans. I teach eternal benefits to my daughter and grandchildren. Dutch ovens are better than any electric slow cooker you can buy as long as your electric/gas oven keeps the temperature down. The minimum temperature of my oven is 170*. Follow the seasoning instructions. I use a silicone basting brush with shortening applied. Before storing, I grease them inside and out and place them on a paper towel in the cupboard. I also have a glass hob. I don't carry pots on it. They didn't damage my hob and conduct heat well. 05/21/2020More tips. The acidity in the sauce removes layers of spice. It's hard to resist washing without soap. I've found that if your pan is poorly seasoned, you can't avoid soap. I use the essentials from Dawn and hold up well. The most effective way to season cast iron is to use it as a fryer. When storing washed cast iron, every trace of water must be removed. If your oven is already preheated, put it in for a few minutes. Allow to cool enough to touch and apply cooling oil or cooling oil. Since writing this original review, I've heard that olive oil is best for long-term pot storage. Canola and vegetable oils also work. I've always used the abbreviation Crisco. I was recently watching Kent Rollins Cowboy Cooking on YouTube. He has several videos dedicated to the care of cast iron. I hope you like your video as much as I do!
