First I bought the blue one and now I bought this one to keep at work. I have spent the last 6 months in physical therapy for upper back, neck and shoulder pain. PT didn't solve the problem, but it helped. This tool works well when PT dates are too far apart or I have recurring pain. I have shoulder pain coming from the neck. Sometimes when my shoulder gets inflamed this tool is great for that pain. I use this to relax the neck muscles that are causing nerve constriction in the shoulder. After he was released, my neck burst and the pain went away almost immediately. The MRI shows no damage so my physical therapist allowed me to use it. I also get headaches from contracting the suboccipital muscles, the muscles at the base of the skull. For me, it's usually due to bad posture, prolonged use of the computer, or frequent driving. Many nights I have used the blue model to relax my neck muscles so I can sleep pain free. I look silly using this at work but once the pain is gone the relief is worth the odd looks from co-workers. I do feel like this thing flexes a little when I really dig into the muscles, but so far it's held up great. If I lost this one or it broke I would buy a third one in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this item.
