For easy access, this is a great scanner. It can read and clear OBD2 Check Engine Lights in a very easy to understand way. I could read my BMW E46 and Subaru Forester SF. Unfortunately, the device was unable to get a VIN from any of the vehicles, unlike my high-end scanners, which I spent over 5x as much on. If you want more information like engine readings, MPG estimates, or real-time data displays, you'll need to go with a high-end scanner or Bluetooth design. This is a very basic scanner for those just trying to clear their codes. If you're an avid mechanic like me, it's a joy to carry around as a hammer. If you're using this to rid codes of smog, just be aware that you must complete a full drive cycle, which is typically 40-60 miles on freeway and road, before you can smoke, otherwise it will show that the codes are recent used were deleted. and they won't pass you by. I wish the cord was a bit longer as my Subaru has the plug way below the dash and I constantly unplugged it for ease of use.
