Review on Fellowes Powershred 99Ci: High-Capacity, 100% Jam-Proof Cross-Cut Paper Shredder with 18-Sheet Capacity by Brian Delgado

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Unable to cross cut - large pieces to cross cut - poor build quality

Apparently Fellowes have changed the product but not the model number. If you read old reviews you will see rave reviews for a great product that is a powerhouse. New reviews are beginning to show changes to the product that have made it cheaper and less quality. It may have been a 5 star product once, but after purchasing it I feel I was generous in giving it two stars. I'm sending it back as a defective device for the following reason: On my first 5 sheets of test patches, I found a few spots where the patch didn't completely cut through (picture). If the NSA were to develop a shredder for the masses, this would be it. It's pretty easy to put things back together if they don't break in the first place. Had it not been for the immediate cutting errors I probably would have kept this machine, but the overall build quality leaves a lot to be desired, especially for the price. Plastic, plastic and more plastic. No metal - not even in the hack teeth. This device is not designed to last a long time. The trash can is made of corrugated plastic and fastened with pins! Absolutely nothing about this device says "quality". I don't recommend it at all.
