Review on ๐Ÿพ Mini Kotobuki Condiment Containers: Adorable Animal Friends for Bento Box by Martha Lieras

After a year and a half they are still good

I bought them in January 2014 and I am still happy with them. Of course they are cute, but they also do their job. The lids are still attached to the container body. Despite washing (sometimes in the dishwasher) they still have pictures on top. This is a flip top cap, not a screw cap (as the description states) so they are not airtight. (If you need an airtight screw cap on a larger container I'd recommend Lunch Bots, one of which shows its size in my photo. At least that's what I use when I need something larger and/or that really needs to be leak proof.) I've had however NEVER a problem with them leaking in a year and a half of adult use. This means use by people who don't drop our lunch box/bag and throw it on the floor when we get to work/school. We keep our lunch box/bag upright and treat it with the usual care (we don't pay much attention to it, we just don't throw it or carry it upside down - our packed lunches have sometimes fallen into the car). on the way to work/school) and there were no leaks. They hold liquids like soy sauce and don't leak or open (see photo - I keep them upside down with soy sauce). ) UNLESS you drop or literally scatter your lunchbox/bag. I find it helpful to press them a bit into the rice in the lunch box so they don't bounce/throw (see my photo). They're also good for ketchup, mayonnaise, and ranch sauce (condiments!). A big plus if you're used to bento (Japanese) size condiment containers is that the hole in the lid is big enough to get in and clean! No more wasteful throwing away those little squeeze bottle containers that you can't wash! They also work with things like breakfast syrup, but personally I would use 2 of these for this application (I love maple syrup). :D So if you're like me with syrup and like complimentary condiments (like if you like Chicken Nugget Ranch or ketchup fries) one of them probably won't do. To you. Likewise, if you are a person who does physical labor (or if you just eat a lot), you can eat enough food to cover the amount of food you want to eat. If you want to try and dip something really big in it (like a whole piece of chicken, a big corn dog, etc.) your hole probably won't be wide enough. They are NOT big enough for what we usually do with a plate - they don't hold the amount of sauce that many people pour/squirt onto a plate in one go (and then often throw away half because we don't use it all) . I also wouldn't recommend using just one of these for a salad dressing unless you have a side dish. A large salad that will be the main part of your meal will likely require 2 of these containers of salad dressing. They are easy to clean, they do the job and I'm still happy with them. :)
