Didn't quite work with wireless

This cable is for connecting my monitor and wireless mouse to my MacBook Air and matches the gold color of my laptop. While the HDMI port works fairly well with my monitor, it doesn't work well with my wireless mouse and keyboard. The connection is intermittent and laggy, and the hub gets very hot after 30 minutes of use. I also tried this on a Lenova laptop to test the issue, but I had the same intermittent connection issue when using it with a hub. I've since returned it and instead invested in an Apple Hub that costs 3x more...
