Doesn't really support Dolby Atmos

I bought this to play my 3D Blu-rays that I got from the UK (as you can't buy many 3D movies in the US anymore). I decided to upgrade to a UHD player for about $100 more to use as the primary player for all my discs in my home theater. However, I recently went through my entire home setup, tested many different drives and settings, and just this week (after about 3 months of ownership) discovered that this player doesn't really support Dolby Atmos audio. I originally justified the cost of the upgrade so I would have all the features I want/need for my UHD plus 3D support, but after testing and now looking at other models to get Atmos I would have to go with the 400 -Buy dollar model that was not included in my offer. I wouldn't have bought this if I'd known Atmos wasn't actually available (it's listed as a feature) and saved my money and bought a $150 3D player instead. I tested this with my copy of Passengers UHD, my receiver registers that the audio signal is formatted in Dolby TrueHD 7.1, not Atmos. However, when I insert this disc into my Xbox One X, the receiver registers the signal as Dolby Atmos. I've tried changing all of the player settings and couldn't find anything that mentioned Atmos, and blindly changing the audio settings didn't come across any other settings that could passively toggle it on and off. It's frustrating that I've never tested/diagnosed this issue before, but as far as Blu-ray 3D Region Free playback goes, everything works fine there. In general, the quality of the player is very good, but it is unpleasant that the listed functions do not correspond to reality.
