Pros: Compact size Incredible fit that disappears in the ears Great soundstage with great width/depth Impressive but well controlled and detailed bass Natural sounding forward mids with great detail for the price Detailed highs with great extension, never quite like headphones Cons: not enough accessories for the price range. The build quality is average, the seams are clearly visible. The audio filters are somewhat useless, but easy to clean (the high-pass filter gives the most balanced and detailed sound, the rest just cut off the highs and mids). Stand out from premium headphones (perhaps professional ones, too) Cable feels cheap and L/R markers are almost impossible to see Fantasy is just average for the price Comparison (with high-pass filter): Moondrop S8 (recommended retail price 699) : Furai is more comfortable and has excellent bass with body and punch. The Moondrop's lower mids and upper bass are very thin, making them anemic compared to the Furai. Altitude expansion is about the same, but Moondrop has more detailed altitudes. The moondrop picture is much better with air between the instruments. As a result, the Moondrop handles busy trails with ease, while the Furai can feel overwhelmed. Overall, Moondrop delivers a more analytical sound, while Furai has more impact and realism. Shure Aonic 4 (299 MSRP): The fit is similar, but the Furai is slightly smaller. Details and staging are much better with Furai. The picture is about the same between the two headphones. The sound is more natural and wider with the Furai Fiio FD5 (320 RRP): The fit of the Furai is more ergonomic and secure. The Fiio's upper bass is higher, making the Furai sound a bit more analytical, but the Fiio's bass also overshadows some mid-range detail. The Fiio's highs are boosted more than the Furai's, leading to some listening fatigue and occasional hiss over time. The Furai picture is more complete, the position of each tool is more clearly defined. Fiio has a wide 2D soundstage. Furai has the same wide soundstage, but it's also more three-dimensional, with sounds all around the head. Layering is much better on Furai. Fiio's range of accessories, cables and tips is better. The build quality of the Fiio is higher. Mangird Tea (299 RRP): Furai is more pleasant, Mangird is more out of the ears. I personally like the look of Mangird more, I find the material to be of higher quality. Furai has better detail and soundstage. In comparison, Mangird has a very intimate sound. Thieaudio Clairvoyance (RRP 699): The Furai is more comfortable, the Clairvoyance shell is large and has pressure points along the anti-coil that can be tiring during long listening sessions. The Clairvoyance cable looks much better, but the adapter system is cumbersome. Clairvoyance has even fewer accessories than Furai. There is some rider flex when inserted into the Clairvoyance, while the Furai has no way to push down (thanks to the ear-side opening). The Clairvoyance sub-bass is slightly higher and faster. The upper mids of the Furai are more forward than those of the Clairvoyance; this results in a livelier and more expressive sound. In comparison, Clairvoyance has a more analytical sound that keeps everything under control. The Clairvoyance's highs are pushed forward with more brightness, but the Furai's highs carry more weight. The general search for details is better at Clairvoyance. With clairvoyance, the visualization is also better, since each instrument is in a well-defined place, which makes live music sound voluminous. In comparison, the Furai can feel a bit overpowered on busy trails. The width of the soundstage between them is about the same, the Clairvoyance has better high-frequency imaging, while the Furai has better layering and depth.
