I wanted a something to keep our important papers in that would keep them safe. I can fit in a drawer or in a closet which is just what I wanted (to fit it in a drawer). The material is odd feeling (reminds me of a weird plastic), but I am guessing that is what makes it fireproof and waterproof. It comes with a lock, but no instructions on how to set it or what the code may be. I like how it expands to hold more items. You can keep important papers (birth certificates, marriage certificates, will, living will, etc.) in this case as well as jewelry and other items you want to keep safe. It has a sturdy handle so in case of fire you can grab it and go. I like that insert that removes. It allows you to organize your documents. There is storage in the lid as well (mesh and elastic). I am not sure that items would not get crushed or wrinkled since the case does not stand upright on its own (it is not stiff). As long as it protects my important papers, I am a happy camper.
