The date of this review is February 2018. I have tried various GPS mounts as the state of California does not allow mounting directly to the windshield. This has worked well from the first day I put it into operation in the summer of 2015. It's very easy. There is only one spring that can break, but there are no other parts that will fail or mismatch with the other components of the mounting bracket. It has what appears to be a silicone material on the underside of the base that offers some "grip" or at least "non-slip" ability and just enough weight to stay in place for the most part. The only time it moves is when the California roads are too rough for my work truck's suspension to run smoothly (which happens more often than it should, but that's a review for another day). I have to adjust its position on the dashboard from time to time, but it doesn't hurt my knees when accelerating from a standstill.
