These brackets are as big and strong as they look. I use a pair to install a junction box on my Gator for supplemental lighting and am very confident I will never have to reconsider that installation decision. If you are not using it for its intended purpose, note that the hole for attaching the flag is quite large, maybe 1/2 inch. Keep this in mind when developing an application.
