It worked great don't worry!
This plate mount attaches to your Subaru's padded bumper. The plastic bumper has two indentations that you use to align. You can pre-punch the hole with an awl (or an ice pick) so everything lines up when you screw in the included screw. Just do it by hand with a screwdriver so you don't overtighten it with a screwdriver.
