Everything is connected. The compartment could not be opened. I've tried the remote control and the controls on the block. Nada. The initial hum of the engine can be heard, that's all. I called Amazon who referred me to Sony Tech. 45 minutes repeat the same as Amazon. While an optical disc reading mechanism may be rocket science, a DVD tray is not. Either it works or it doesn't work. This one didn't. The device is now on its way to Sony in Texas. Once they take a look at this I hope to get a replacement. Can be damaged in transit. The packaging was not contemporary. Just a block in a box in a slightly larger box. No peanut/bubble wrap so it doesn't flop.
