This is the best water conditioner on the market. It also converts toxic ammonia into non-toxic ammonium. However, if your test kit only measures total ammonia, you won't see any change in values - you'll need to purchase a special ammonia kit to separate the two types of ammonia. There is nothing better than a general water conditioner. Just keep in mind that you don't have to use too much (it's very expensive) for it to work, but I know most of us want to be 100% sure. Removes chlorine almost instantly.
