Disclaimer: I'm an old guy. which is somewhat technologically challenged. First I bought a used cable/voice/wireless modem (TG862G) for our Xfinity service because I'm cheap. The combo modem works fine, but wireless connectivity through walls is severely limited. I bought an extension cord, that helped a little but not much. I saw a Tenda router and bought it to improve the data transfer speed for our DirecTV receiver. Installation was very easy and took 10 minutes out of the box. Haven't read the instructions. I can't comment on all the technical capabilities of the Tenda router, but our data transfer rate through a wall (about 40 feet) has increased from 10Mbps (sometimes up to 1) to 40Mbps (with peaks). at 80). I understand the general bandwidth issue with cable. If anything, we're happier now watching TV with far fewer buffer episodes. So for us. Great buy.
