Would recommend in my review

This is the first lighter I've bought online and I couldn't be happier. The highest setting for the flame is about 2-3 inches high I very much like, and I have blown the flame out about 10 times in a row and it relit itself every time just like it says. The only thing that is even remotely "bad" is that the dial to change flame height is a little tough to turn the first couple times but it has grooves on the edges that make it easier. I am overall very pleased with this product and its…

Pros
  • lights in a gale
Cons
  • The lighter may be difficult to refill without spilling fuel

Works great in my review

I have purchased a few different lighters of this type and all were junk. Usually the igniter would fail in short order. So far this lighter has worked flawlessly and I will certainly buy another if I lose this one.

Pros
  • Lighters & Matches
Cons
  • The lighter may not fit well in larger hands

Nice lighter!: my feedback

I've never seen a flame like the one this lighter throws. It's very cool, and powerful too.The case is great. Easy to operate, very secure, keeps all the lint out of the mechanism. The gas tank is kinda small, and it works best when it's full, but compared to most lighters, this one rocks.

Pros
  • Ergonomic design with easy grip rubber body
Cons
  • The lighter may require frequent maintenance to keep it working properly

Great Inexpensive Xikar lighter

This is a nice lighter for a nice price compared to other Xikars. It has the Xikar quality. However, if you are familiar with other "windproof" lighters, you will already know that they dont throw as much flame as torch style lighters. If you know this going in, your expectations on the flame type and amount should be realistic. So it doesnt make the best all around cigar lighter. But it is suitable for general use if you are patient when lighting big ring gauge cigars. It is very good…

Pros
  • It's an indestructible lighter. The second one I've owned.
Cons
  • The lighter may not work in extremely low temperatures

Getting old?: my feedback

Have had mine for two years. Recently, flame has diminished a LOT even at high setting and fresh refills. Not as reliable as I expected

Pros
  • One of the biggest pros of the Xikar Stratosphere II is its versatility. Whether you're lighting a cigar or a cigarette, this lighter consistently delivers a strong, even flame that makes it easy to light up whatever you're smoking. Plus, its compact size and lightweight design make it the perfect accessory to take with you wherever you go
Cons
  • The plastic casing may discolor over time, making it look dirty or faded

Simply the best best in my review

I have smoked cigars for decades and gone past everything from Bic to Colibri and Dunhill lighters. Nothing I have ever used can hold a butane flame to the Stratosphere. A hot coil above the jet diffuses the gas as it lights it creating a flame just the size of a cigar end for an hot, even, and near unblow-outable flame with no need to move it around. There are other cases but be sure to get this internal design.

Pros
  • cheap and has got good quality
Cons
  • The ignition switch may be difficult to press for those with limited hand function

Too awesome best in my review

I smoke cigars, sometimes at high altitudes (5-12k) around the Sierras. This lights is great for most of that, but tends to need a couple clicks to light above 7k. Can be harder closer to 10k, and haven't tried it above that yet. Otherwise this works great and I can't imagine using Bics anymore. The torch effect is windproof and focused enough to do emergency soldering and shrink-tubing on electronics repair. I refill every couple weeks, and might smoke or use the lighter about 5 times a day --

Pros
  • Lighters
Cons
  • The lighter may be too loud when ignited, causing annoyance to others

Gets the job done good for me

Definitely the cigar lighter to have if lighting your cigar is what you need to do. Form follows function here as this is a very utilitarian design. I was surprised to see that the flame is just about invisible, which elicits comments from onlookers. All they can see is my cigar coming to life.

Pros
  • Designed to work at high altitudes
Cons
  • The flame may be too hot and damage delicate materials

Not Ready For Prime Time

Been using Xikar lighters for over 20 years and this one was a major disappointment. Had to try up to ten times to get it to light and when it finally did the unit died after a couple of seconds and this was in an enclosed location; not outdoors. Really not up to the standards I've come to expect from Xikar.

Pros
  • Single jet flame windproof lighter
Cons
  • The lighter may not come with a fuel gauge, making it difficult to know when it needs to be refilled

Good lighter for the price.

It is an excellent lighter, but it seems like it is either burning fluid extremely fast or it is evaporating. I would be cautious about purchasing this brand again.

Pros
  • Thumb activated ignition and spring assisted protective lid
Cons
  • The plastic construction may feel cheap or flimsy

Still Problematic at Altitude .

And we're talking about the relatively moderate heights of North Carolina's Appalachian range. I live in Greensboro, but I carried this lighter to my family home in Boone, NC, in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains, and it simply wouldn't work. When I could get it to light, it wouldn't fire well, but that was only when I could get it to fire. Evidently, piezo-electric lighters are difficult to light and operate at altitude. I had hoped that the Xikar Stratosphere would handle the mountains of

Pros
  • Perfect..this is just what I was looking for. Can't say enough about this lighter, Thank you
Cons
  • The fuel tank may run out quickly, requiring frequent refills

I've owned mine for a year and have used it up to 9500' (2900m) under a number of difficult weather and high altitude conditions and always operates flawlessly. I appreciate the huge tank with a large, clear window for keeping track of its level. It's built to take punishment and has. Especially if you spend a lot of time in the outdoors and need reliability, this is the way to go.I own two Xicar lighters and have had one for decades. Outstanding quality and design. If anything ever goes wrong,

Pros
  • Great lighter, fires up on the first click every time. Feels great in the hand.
Cons
  • The single jet flame may not be strong enough for certain outdoor conditions

Wind proof good for me

Great for windy conditions. Great for the golfer and the occasional cigar smoker. I would recommend this lighter to anyone.

Pros
  • Great windproof lighter for the money. And, as usual, it comes with the Xikar lifetime guarantee.
Cons
  • The lighter may be too expensive for some consumers
