Review on Bertech High Heat Rubber Thick by Brian Krump

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Starts well but yellows badly with UV exposure

It's been two years and I sadly have to cut that down to two or maybe even upgrade to a star. The matte finish withstood physical exertion, but faded badly under fluorescent lights (they all contain a UV component). I never noticed until I saw a bench we use for a cruder "mechanical" build - it had a piece of lexan/perspex installed on it to protect the mat (ESD obviously wasn't a big deal). Bank). It wasn't until I looked under the plexi that I noticed a big difference - the plexi blocked UV so underneath it was as good as new. After two years under normal fluorescent lighting (without sunlight), it turned yellow-green. It's not a skin oil or other chemical problem, and it's an air-conditioned lab. I've never experienced that with other carpet brands. Original Rating: Good carpet - lays flat out of the roll, no unpleasant smell. Does not include latches or hardware, FYI. cuts easily with a drywall tee and a new utility knife blade.

Pros
  • ESD SAFE: Designed for electronics assembly and manufacturing where static is a problem
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged
