These hooks are perfect for what I wanted. I attached them to a 1x4 on the wall behind my kitchen table to hang two folding chairs. The description doesn't say how wide the hook is so I was concerned it might be over an inch but the pictures led me to think they would be around an inch and they are. They attach to the bracket, which you screw in first, then attach the outer hook to the bracket using an Allen wrench, firm compression, and lots of very short turns to tighten. Also, the bracket is shorter than the hooks, so be sure to measure the bracket carefully and position it so that it's on the inside of the hook. In general a good product.
