Worked great for this newbie.

I would like to start by saying that I am a complete novice and am trying to learn how to renovate my own house to save money. And I liked this product. I bought this to fix some porch boards that were missing large (10-18" x 1") chips. Some boards also had rotten ends that splintered and looked very torn. I didn't want to replace the boards due to the cost and labor involved, but I wanted the boards to look better/more complete for a repaint. I used a PC petrifier to strengthen and preserve the base wood in the areas that I needed to replace. After 24 hours I used PC-Woody to mend the ends of the boards and fill in and repair missing split areas. In some of my deep cracks/chips I had to apply a second coat after 24 hours as it had shrunk a bit. I could probably skip it, the shrinkage was barely noticeable, but I tend to fiddle with things until I find them perfect. After 24 hours the repair seemed to have healed, so I hand sanded the repaired areas a bit and then varnished. The paint worked great during the repair. If I didn't know where the repairs were I don't think I could have found them. My only problem was confusing PC-woody. This is a two part epoxy that needs to be mixed in a 1:1 ratio. I used a scale to ensure I was doing an accurate 1:1 when measuring the tiles included in the kit. Since my renovation was very large, I had to use almost all of the material in both cans and the tile was too small to mix that much product. For a small repair this would be fine, but I suggest using a large tile or piece of plastic to mix the epoxy if using more than 1/4 can. The directions describe the consistency of the mixed epoxy as being similar to peanut butter and I would say it is accurate. It wasn't too difficult to work with him. In fact, I found that roughly filling in large areas and then waiting 5-15 minutes for the material to settle and then come back was easier to shape and smooth than trying to get the perfect shape, while the epoxy was still very soft and smooth. sticky. After waiting for it to set a bit, I used my gloved fingers to press and smooth the epoxy into the desired shape, smoothing it out with a spatula to line it up with the adjacent boards. I am very happy with this product and am planning to purchase a separate PC woody kit to fix some of my rotten window sills.
