Review on ICON RV Skylight - SL1422W - White by Shane Jess

Revainrating 5 out of 5

We removed the old roof and installed it ourselves!

This was the first draft of our new motorhome when we discovered the leak was due to a large tear in the original skylight. Not to mention that the original skylight was completely opaque due to years of exposure to the sun. We removed the old skylight fairly easily after watching a few YouTube videos. We ordered Icon based on reviews and recommendations from other customers. We chose smoke. It came quickly with no damage. There were fewer pre-drilled screw holes than our old skylight and they didn't match up, but that was fine as we bought new stainless steel screws. We bought 1 inch size 10. They were tight trying to screw into the pre-drilled holes. I would recommend a size 8. It was easy to install, just a lot of work as we screwed it on by hand for fear of cracking the skylight. We used a liberal amount of butyl sealant and although our RV's roof is domed, the skylight stays firmly in place. Being careful not to over tighten the flanges or try to attach them to the camper roof, we left it in butyl. We will update this review after 3 and 6 and 12 months of use.
