This filter is advertised as an aid to allergy sufferers, but it creates more problems than it solves. The Whispure 510 has been running continuously in our house for many years and it has been great. This spring has been bad for pollen so we decided we needed more filters in the house. Reviews of the recently released Whispure 510 say quality is sluggish as production moves to China. We almost strayed from the Whirlpool and Whispure brands but settled on the top of the range Whirlpool Pro 2000. It arrived quickly. As soon as we turned it on, the room was filled with a sickening perfume smell. Walking outside didn't eliminate the smell. The smell came from the hepa filter. After removing the Hepa filter, it could be used indoors again. The Pro 2000 was about to be sent back but the Hepa filter needed to be replaced regularly so we ultimately decided to buy an aftermarket Hepa filter and discard the one that came with the Pro 2000. We have worked with the aftermarket filter with no problems. Whirlpool had to figure out why they should offer smelly hepa filters and allergy sufferers beware.
