I was looking for an amp and volt meter for my 100 watt solar instrument, searched for a small digital meter like this and finally decided to try this one. It works as expected and I love it. I bought another one the night it was delivered. Why I chose this one - Up to 10A, no external shunt. (My max current is about 6-7A) - The power supply is flexible, use the same power supply you want to measure the current with, or use an independent power supply for the power meter. - Size appropriate for my application. - The unit of measure V, A is printed in such a way as to save energy for lighting such devices. - Low power consumption, <20mA - Price and fast delivery to try. I installed it to test with battery charge current and voltage measurement for my 30w solar panel and solar charge controller SK-6 (PWM). The attached circuit diagram is for measuring the charging current when the meter is powered up from a battery being charged by the solar panel. Turn on the solar panel and measure the V of the solar panel while still showing the charging current. You can also power the meter from an independent power source by separating the thick red and thin red and powering the thin red and thin black. Precision, I have a digital multimeter, Kyoritsu, Kew Mate 2012R that comes with clamps. I compared what it reads and what the meter reads for V and A. If I round up the measured value on the DMM, it's the same as what the meter reads. Sufficient for the demands of my hobby. I will be leaving this first unit with my 30w PWM solar charging system and using another from my 100w MPPT solar charging system. It's really easy to use, it might be good to have some of these devices for multipurpose use and not just attached to the device.
