Finally, a truly practical raw food diet!

I've wanted to feed my cats raw food for a long time, but I didn't want the mess and hassle. When I heard about dried raw food, it sounded like a possible solution to my problem, and it was! I feed my cats dry food mainly for convenience, especially when we are out. But I know there are health benefits to feeding cats both wet and raw food, so I now give each cat a cube a day as a 'treat' and they love it! They seem to know instinctively that this is good for them. They literally lick the shells. I lost my last two cats to kidney disease (although they lived long and happy lives) and I recently read that kidney disease is common in cats that have eaten dry food their entire lives. I feed my cats the best quality dry food (Solid Gold, not the Science Diet crap my other poor cats ate) and the addition of this raw wet food and I hope my current little friends will feel even better. This primal food is my first raw food experience and it turned out to be really great. It's so easy, just break a rock into each bowl and mix with 1.5 tablespoons each of filtered water (the label recommends 1 tablespoon per rock, but I put in an extra half and find it still works great and they get even more fluid in their systems). One pack lasted exactly one month feeding my two cats this way, if that helps determine how much food is in 14 ounces. Pouches (You'd probably be using about two pouches a month per cat if that was their primary food source, so about $2 a day is still not bad considering). Fifteen dollars a month per cat to ensure my cats are getting at least some super nutritious food in a usable form every day seems very worthwhile to me. And if it helps avoid costly vet bills and future health problems, so much the better. Hope that helps.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • A dodgy purchase for seniors
