Put simply, this thermometer/hygrometer is a great value! I was looking for an inexpensive hygrometer to monitor the humidity in several dry food storage containers. I first bought the Caliber III and Caliber IV humidor hygrometers because they are known for their accuracy. However, they are expensive, so I wanted to find a less expensive hygrometer that could be stored in any food storage container. I bought five units to test and compare to more expensive Caliber hygrometers. I was impressed with the five Amir digital thermometer/hygrometers and while the Caliber units seem better at about 1/3 the cost, I found the cheaper units suited my needs. I bought 15 additional units but found that five of them were defective. One had a defective display, the other four could not be "switched on" after inserting the battery. I was able to get three of the four to work after putting a cardboard spacer over the battery to push the battery a bit into the battery compartment. When Amir was informed of my experience they offered to refund the cost of all five units! I ordered five replacement units and all five worked as expected. I am very impressed with Amir's customer service! To verify their accuracy, I tested 22 devices placed together on a table. All 22 show the same temperature +/- 1 degree Fahrenheit. As expected, the humidity values are not as stable, but acceptable. 20 units show the same humidity +/- 2%. The fact that they're read very close together doesn't prove accuracy, but it's a good sign of consistency. The other two units are "runaways". One unit indicates 4% RH outside the 20 range, the second block indicates 7% RH outside the 20 range. Tips for the most accurate humidity readings. Ambient air enters the back of the unit to reach the humidity sensor, so the back must be clean. This means that it should not be hung on the wall or placed on a surface. Also, relative humidity takes much longer to stabilize than temperature. So allow enough time for her to stabilize after moving to a new location. So I've decided to have a hygrometer in every storage container to keep it stable. So the Amir digital thermometer/hygrometer is a great value! If you receive a defective device, the support team will take care of it. Customer service is EXCELLENT!
