I think the description is not true. I have 16 inches. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect but thought there was an option for him to wear it as a necklace or an anklet. Unfortunately it doesn't work for both. I think this would be great for a child maybe under 10 but it would be too big as there is no description of the ankle.
