This stand/tripod is so well designed that I am very impressed. Out of the box, this is a simple cylindrical metal baton. But press the button on one end and the three legs will move outwards. The rest extends telescopically, loosening and locking wrist rotation at each retractable section. There is a nice 1/4-20 screw on the top that is more than strong enough to hold the LED bulbs and even the camera. When used with a camera, however, the limited stability due to the narrow tripod base must be taken into account. This is a great, well thought-out product and I can only recommend it!
