Review on Minka Lavery WC600 Control System by Mack Cruz

Confusing but works

I bought the Minka ceiling fan/lamp this switch was made for because I didn't want to worry about finding the remote control in the dark. I installed this in the wall plate where the original light switch was and it was very easy to connect 3 wires. Just find out a few things before you order this. 1. Do your homework on which of these Minkas switched to your Minka ceiling fan - they're not all interchangeable.2. Just like you'll see in the remote's battery compartment, this wall box has tiny toggle switches under the bezel. Check out how the switches are on the remote if it's already working. Then line up the toggle switches in the wall box the same way as on the remote and it should work. If your remote works but your wall switch doesn't, it could be the toggle switch. And if the wall switch works but the remote doesn't, you may need to copy the toggle positions of the wall switch to the remote. The only issue I have with these fancy ceiling fans and their accessories like this wall unit is that I think they overthink it. Why build a wall box that acts as a remote control instead of just powering a lamp or fan directly like most standard ceiling fans do? All this wall switch has is a remote control connected to a power source. Then you have to fiddle with little switches and connect the remote control to the device. Every ceiling fan with light I've had made it easy for you to connect a wall switch to the fan and one to the light. However, I would then have to go to the fan and pull the fan speed circuit and my lights wouldn't be able to dim, so I guess I've answered my own question. So I'm not deducting a single star for my dissatisfaction with the technology.
