Got these for my 98-yr old father who has developed a chronic sore on the end of his big toe so he can't wear a shoe right now. His shoe size is 9 and I ordered XL to have a bit of extra clearance for the toe bandage. He also has circulatory issues so his feet are often swollen. These were perfect in that they stretched enough to get over his injured toe without hitting it, but also have a gentle compression feature in the mid-foot section (but not the toes or heels) that justs hugs the foot a little so it stays in place. The socks come up over the ankle but have a loose top, so again they are easy to put on and take off. Prior to this he had been wearing standard "Gold Toe" men's socks but we're just not in that phase of life any longer. His feet look SO much healthier after just a few days in these socks. Highly recommend!
