Why bother: Power strips

This is one of those weird items that could have been such a good idea, but somewhere along the way someone on the design team didn't quite get how it did would. Second hand. GOOD The best news is that it costs about what I think it should about twelve bucks. It's almost entirely made of plastic, but I don't see that as a disadvantage as it helps reduce the risk of impact in wet areas. The plastic proved to be softer than I expected, which could result in one of the tabs breaking when you try to stick it to a surface. Mounting holes are not reinforced. Also in the good category is the power cord - strong and flat which I prefer to the big round cord. At the end is a heavy rectangular power plug, which is one of the strongest I've seen on an extension cord. NOT SO GOOD The biggest problem with the Not So Good category is that they chose to put the power cord out the back of the outlet for some weird reason that I don't understand at all. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, other than you're only buying this thing to mount it to something, they even show it in their ads, but with the bulky power cord outlet it's almost impossible. And they don't seem to understand why this could be a problem. In my opinion this makes it almost useless to use mounted on anything and if you want to go all out to cut a hole and mount it on your desk you could make it a lot easier with a socket like this where you drill a round hole and let the socket in. It's always nice to have a basic two-socket extension, and that's fine, but unfortunately it doesn't serve the purpose of being what it appears to be. There are better ways.
