I had a similar light installed by another company above the landing that leads to the basement. I'm guessing it was very cheap plastic because I only had it for about a year and a half before the plastic tab around the screws holding it together ripped and it was just hanging by a wire. Not sure if this was due to the heat on the bottom of the unit but I needed a replacement. This light is very bright but not overwhelming. It's not as bright as the previous light I had, but it definitely does the job. I think the best use for this type of light is in rooms with high ceilings. This way it doesn't get knocked over and its power is enough to illuminate a large area. My only concern is that the plastic flap holding the wires and electronics might do the same thing as my previous lamp. Luckily, two lightbulbs are included in case one breaks. It's cheap plastic so durability is my main concern hence the 4 stars. If this goes on for more than 2 years I will probably stop and update my review.
