Review on 🚲 Elixir Organic Pads by EBC Brakes by Brian West

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Poor quality control, low productivity

I read good reviews about EBC brake pads for cars and decided to try their bike pads. Unfortunately this is a big disappointment. The recoil spring came out flat and I had to relax it again. The friction material is not centered on the backing plate and is too wide for the return spring to expand. As a result, the return spring protruded over the edges of the pads and got stuck in the caliper. I ended up having to cut some of the friction material off to make the pads fit. After cleaning the rotor, I gave them a workout. The initial occlusion was terrible but improved somewhat after careful lapping and transfer of the padding material. However, they are nowhere near as good as standard organic SRAM/Avid pads. In addition, they squeak in a way that has never happened with standard pads. I'll probably end up buying SRAM/Avid pads, which is actually what I should have done.

Pros
  • Brake system
Cons
  • Obsolete model
