Review on Kensington Fusion Wireless Trackball with Orbit Technology (Model K72363WW) by Johnny Murphy

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nothing for small hands.

When I saw that Kensington was releasing a new trackball with a scroll ring and a middle mouse, I was very excited. I've been using them for both gaming and productivity since 1997 while working in various areas of IT. That means I spent a lot of time on the computer. I liked the original Orbit for a long time, but eventually had to replace it with a middle-click one, as some games found it too cumbersome to use the programmed G-key on my G910 keyboard as a middle mouse. I uploaded an image for comparison. this mouse next to the previous Kensington Orbit, as well as Elecom Deft EX-G, size L (not XL). Usage: After using this mouse for more than 4 hours while playing games, my hand started to hurt. The height seems to make my palm uncomfortable, and I may have to spread my fingers further to use right-click. When I first press the mouse, my hands' natural open position seems to land with my pinky on the right mouse button, but all the way down where, while not awkward, pressing my pinky wasn't really a pressed button. My ring finger naturally lands on the right side of the ball at the top of the scroll ring. When I first want to right click, I get that and my finger just slips and lands on the raised bar next to the actual button groove, not in the groove to use it, so I have to increase the width. Prolonged use during a gaming session means holding it in that position, which apparently hurt me. For the most. It's probably something most people can get used to over time as long as it doesn't hurt them. to get the middle mouse button. The scroll ring is almost as smooth as the previous Orbit model, but it can feel a bit rough depending on whether you're gripping it from the side of the ring or from the top. But I wish it was styled like the old Orbit instead of being so elevated and having such a thick squiggle ring. Software: The Kensington Works software is fantastic. There are so many options that you can remap keys for. To my surprise, it even includes keyboard keys, which can be pretty cute for gamers. You can also set the scroll speed so that you can scroll multiple pages through a document and not see a single word clearly when you search for it: DTL; DR. For the price and the pain, I will return it. but keep your eyes peeled for future Kensington trackballs. Would like to see a slightly lower profile version though.
