Description of Kensington Fusion Wireless Trackball with Orbit Technology (Model K72363WW)

The high-quality laser tracking sensor, 40mm finger-operated trackball and a simple DPI switch provide smooth cursor control, optimal precision and easy cursor speed transitions. The unique finger-operated scroll ring provides a more precise, intuitive and comfortable scrolling experience. All-day comfort is provided through a sculpted mouse-like design to improve palm, wrist, forearm and shoulder position with less hand movement. Experience the plug and play default settings or use KensingtonWorks software to set pointer and scrolling options and personalize 5 programmable buttons to tackle your common tasks with one touch. ChromeOS user can get HID functions for a trackball but will not be able to customize their device through KensingtonWorks. Connects to Windows and macOS devices via a 2.4GHz nano receiver that stows inside the trackball when not in use. The included USB-A to USB-C adapter works for laptops with limited or no USB-A ports.

Nothing for small hands.

When I saw that Kensington was releasing a new trackball with a scroll ring and a middle mouse, I was very excited. I've been using them for both gaming and productivity since 1997 while working in various areas of IT. That means I spent a lot of time on the computer. I liked the original Orbit for a long time, but eventually had to replace it with a middle-click one, as some games found it too cumbersome to use the programmed G-key on my G910 keyboard as a middle mouse. Not that bad! [updated]

Edit: I just noticed that the Kensington software overrides the DPI and scroll settings on my other computer mice. Very annoying. This is my first trackball. I was about to order the Expert Wireless when I saw this new model show up at Revain. I had to try it because it felt more ergonomic, has a slightly smaller footprint, and has 5 assignable buttons instead of 4. The overall shape fits my hand well. I've spent a few hours with him and I don't think there will be any problems with fatigue…

Cheap and reliable for the price

I used the Kensington Slimblade for several years until it wore out. I tried Orbit Fusion hoping it would be a feature update. The first impression was the spiral ring. It feels fluffy and gritty and sounds like other devices at a third of the price. The trackball rotates smoothly, but since the scroll ring is also an important element, this is unacceptable for 70 euros. Other reviews describe the same thing, so apparently this is how this device is made. Second, removing the cleaning ball…

Great, too bad there wasn't a wired option.

Great Trackball! I give 5 stars but there are a few little things I would like to change a bit. The ball is a bit small, especially for multi-monitor work. The scroll ring is okay, but it sits too high and surrounds too much of the (already small) trackball. This can be a lower/flatter shape and a more open part of the ball. But it's a real scroll ring, not Slimblade's poor implementation of ball scrolling, so that's a plus. The sphere doesn't appear to be removable for cleaning, although…

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Not Sure

I wish I'd read some of the recent reviews more carefully. I found almost the same issues reported by other users (jerky, erratic and clunky scroll ring, erratic tracking behavior in general regardless of dpi setting, and annoying left button double-tap). NOT EVEN CLOSE UP on the quality and smoothness of the Kensington Expert trackball that I've used a couple of times. Unfortunately, I'm not happy with the Expert's ergonomics and had high hopes for this new Orbit Fusion. Disappointed. Ordered…

Ergonomic comfortable mouse with really clunky scrolling

Pros: It's a massive improvement over the old wired Orbit in many ways. The shape comfortably fills my hand and eliminates the need for a palm rest. The keys are conveniently arranged, easily accessible and well pressed. The ball rolls smoothly (so far - just a day). Cons: The scroll ring steps back a few steps from my older Orbit. This one is very scratchy in sound and feel.

The product is usable, I expected a bit more.

Bought this mouse two days ago. I have been using trackballs for many years. The hand hurts from an ordinary mouse, the so-called. "tunnel syndrome". So I started looking for a replacement. Tried many different ones. Do not list everyone. Recently used with a side ball under the thumb, but the hand hurt again. And finally I saw this. In my opinion, controlling the ball with the index and middle fingers is much more accurate, more convenient and comfortable. So I ordered without hesitation. And…
