I must have got cheap defective hardware. No, it's a cheap iron.
I must have a broken iron. I have over 40 years of electronics repair experience and this is the most frustrating soldering iron I can imagine. On the second use the tip broke off and the whole soldering iron literally fell apart. This is a $9.99 disposable iron priced at $46. This iron is of such cheap quality that I question the "Verified Purchase" reviews.
