Works as advertised - Impressive at this price range

This mic is designed for gaming, podcasting etc and for that purpose at this price point this mic really impressed me. Other mics of this type in the $30-$40 price range either have no controls on the mic, or only volume (gain). This microphone has volume (gain), echo/reverb, a mute button and headphone jacks. This gives you more options than other microphones in this price range. It's solid construction and good quality. It is securely mounted on a tripod and cannot easily be knocked over. The tripod stand is adjustable in height, angle/tilt and the microphone can be rotated 360 degrees on the stand. It can be detached from the stand and used on the boom. It connects to a USB 3.0 port (other mics in this range may only have a USB 2.0 port) and an Android adapter is also included so you can use this mic on a smartphone, laptop or computer on a PC or Mac be able. The instructions were very detailed and clear. I tested the microphone at 70% volume and a distance of approx. 30 cm recommended by the manufacturer. I tested it with and without the windshield and pop screen. I prefer a sound with both elements. The built-in noise canceler is pretty good. If you stream live, everything is fine. When you're recording, adding noise reduction to your editing program makes it even better. I was very impressed with how much extra noise he cut out. I purposely banged on the mic, stand, table, and clicked my computer keys like I was in an aggressive video game battle, and the only time the audio was really loud enough to be distracting was when I hit the mic boom or the windshield banged. You could hear a simple bang on a tripod or table, or a computer bang, but not overwhelmingly. If you don't have a USB mic and are looking for a mic for podcasting, video recording, gaming, etc. in this price range, then this mic does what it says on the tin. I am going to gift it to a family member who runs a YouTube gaming channel and I have no doubt it will be very good for them when they start. The mute button is great, and a headphone jack is handy too. No additional noise escapes when the headphones are plugged in or when the device is unplugged. If you already have a mic in this line and want to upgrade it, the extra buttons and features probably aren't enough upgrades to make it worth it. I found the reverb to be too strong for my personal uses and would leave it at 0% but others may like 5%-10% and 100% can give some interesting special effects! Overall I give the KMAG USB microphone 4 stars for the volume control. The knobs are a bit small and there is no volume control on the headphones that is separate from the microphone volume (but then again, no other microphone at all offers this function at this price point). If your headphones have a volume control, this is not a problem. I give it a 4 for noise reduction. It does its job well, but it's not a professional microphone. It's great for this price range. I was really impressed. Here, too, you can perform additional noise reduction in post-processing when recording. If you're streaming a live game session or hosting a podcast, it might not even be noticeable unless you have a long silence or lots of background noise at your location. I give 5 for sound quality and 5 overall for everything else. (durable, easy to use, etc.). I would recommend this mic for beginners, enthusiasts, those starting a new podcast or YouTube channel, for zoom and conferencing, and for basic recording. If you need professional sound for clients, singers/musicians etc you might want a microphone with more features but at this price point it doesn't hurt to try this microphone first before making a big investment. Video review with sound tests on my YouTube channel. I recommend anyone looking to buy this go to one of the available sound test videos and check it out for themselves.
