Putting on glasses and turning off other lights increases the contrast - I'm not sure any of this works as well as a long fluorescent black light on it's been a long time for me, but it works. What else can you say to people who might use it? It turns out my partner can't see the contrast he needs to see urine. It seemed to him that he saw something, but he realized that I was pointing to a place invisible to him. We checked other locations and they were invisible to him as well. So, for the people who were outraged that this light didn't work - the light probably works, but you have a visual anomaly preventing you from perceiving what it takes to see glowing cat pee. It would be interesting to see what happened to other types of urine detection lamps.
