I have these for my grandson in Dino-1 - flag color with dinosaurs and volcanoes all over - very cute! Warm and cozy! The waistband is wide with an elastic band inside. There is a working tie at the waist; the ends are not tied so i tied them in a knot to keep them from riding into the waistband when washing. Not sure if a lace is even needed as the elastic works well. But for thinner babies, the drawstring waist helps cinch the pants together for a better fit. The holes at the bottom of the legs are knitted, this is great for a good fit and allows you to increase the size and use the pants as your baby grows. These pants are true to size but as they are 100% cotton I will size up just in case. If there is significant shrinkage after a few washes I will update my review. Thanks to the elastic waistband and knitted leg ends, the little ones can wear them before they have reached the specified size.
