I recently bought these on the website's recommendation to make it easier to grab and pull the inner pot out of the Crockpot Express (same idea as the Instant Pot) while it's really hot gone after cooking. When they arrived I washed them and tried them on an empty pan and while impractical it seemed like it worked fine once I got the hang of it. With that in mind, I tried using it to pull out the inner pan after cooking 2 pounds of ribs in about a cup of liquid (the thing is, it wasn't particularly heavy). I took my time aligning the handle pieces with the edges of the pan and then attempted to pull the pan out with it. Unfortunately they are extremely fragile and the force required to grip the pot firmly enough to pull it out is too much for them. I managed to lift the pot about an inch (seriously), then one of them just broke. The plastic (silicone?) pad on the handle just flew off and landed right in the middle of the hot food pot. Very hot, still makes a lot of steam. So I had to fish out the small piece of plastic very quickly before it was either lost or possibly melted into my food (I don't know if it might have melted, but that was my immediate concern at the time). . This was very uncomfortable due to the fact that the vapor mentioned above was actively generated. Never. Keeping your hands off the steam when removing the inner pot of freshly cooked food was a good idea and seemed more hygienic than using a hot pad or oven mitt. I was also hoping they would provide a more secure grip for the hot inner pan, but gripping with hot pads/oven mitts feels a bit unreliable. But it's absolutely not worth it. I just use my little silicone heating pad/potholder and will live with the steam. Both ended up in the trash.
