A good tea chest for work. but it has some problems.

Well, I drink LOTS of tea both at home and at work. I prefer loose tea, but as you can imagine at work, this is not an option without a fuss. I drink a lot of Stash brand tea at work and I'm tired of having cardboard tea dispensers on the table so I decided on this chest. I'll post the problems I see or encounter: - No latch. It's impossible to keep the lid closed, so care must be taken when driving back and forth. The design leaves a lot to be desired. I smoke cigars so I know what a good humidor should look like. Humidors in the price range of this tea caddy have the best construction. The glass is held together by oddly shaped pieces that don't match what appears to be wood trim. The hinges have been removed. They don't line up as well as they could have, I looked for a "Made in China" sticker but couldn't find one. I was sure it was a cheap Chinese-made box. thin tree. The wood is quite thin, and I daresay an "Oops" will break the pieces. thin glass. The glass is quite thin and I would warn anyone wearing it to be very careful. The tea didn't work. I went through all the cons above and realized I could deal with the cons so I took out 3 different mixes of Stash Tea bags and started filling them. Everything seemed to be going well until I tried closing the box. It didn't close completely, the teabags were too high for the chest. This struck me as odd since Stash teabags are in the same size range as almost every other premium teabag I've seen. So why shouldn't this "elegant" tea box be designed for "good" tea? Generally there is tea in it, it looks "nice" (not getting to the point of elegance), you just have to know what you are buying. If it is important for design, longevity and functionality to be well thought out, you should keep your hands off this tea chest.

Pros
  • Lasting test results
Cons
  • Price that beats the piggy bank
