Review on Spectra Premium F43B Classic Fuel by Mike Roe

A 1966 Fairlane GT fuel tank. Good Replacement

This replacement tank is approximately 90% full. I just couldn't get all 5 stars and here's why. It is identical to the original with one exception. The gooseneck/filling hole through the rear bumper is TOO SHORT. I measured both the original and this new tank and the new one was about half an inch shorter. Doesn't sound like much, but it is! The difference is that you need to slightly modify the sheet metal around the fill hole. Luckily, this part of the car is hidden by the license plate, so it's not as critical as other cars. It's just a head up. It can only be stamps made by Ford in 1966 as there were no quality control specifications nowadays. In any case, I was satisfied with the price paid and how it looked in the car. It also seems to work great. No leaks etc. One more thing. Before installation, check the tank several times and then apply a clear coat to keep it shiny. And yes, I know the factory didn't do that, but just for reference.
