READ BEFORE TRYING IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER. Got this to register my battery after replacing it with a 2012 BMW 328i. As a newbie to using this and the process I have had to rely on videos here and on other forums to use it for this purpose. It would be nice if there was a more detailed scanner instruction manual to walk you through the process. There's definitely some nuance to how it works in terms of when the engine should be running or just the key on. I've found it very useful to plug the fob into the ignition when you want to use it. This was a problem when I first tried to register the battery. You have to turn on the ignition but not start the car. When I figured it out, it was great. I was blown away by a video of a brand new car and decided to reset it. When I turned it back on I got a picture of half the engine and the service engine soon caught fire. The madness has begun. When googling I found a forum post where you press the start button without applying the brake. Then wait 10 seconds and press the gas pedal for 30 seconds then restart the engine and it magically works. I then had to clear some error codes after the new battery worked. Again, I would advise you to study the process carefully before doing anything.

Pros
  • 6 OBD modes for OBD-II vehicles, BM700 can read/erase fault codes, display fault code definitions, turn off MIL (check engine light), read data stream, test EVAP system, read I/M, check battery voltage and get information about VIN
Cons
  • Something else
