Review on πŸš— Enhance Your Car Stereo: SiriusXM FMDA25 Direct Adapter by Justin Hill

Works with a limitation

Bought a Sirius radio as a Christmas present and bought it to turn on for a slightly more professional install. While it serves its primary purpose, it's not as good as the old version Sirius had (and they've retired that model, so I don't know what they're offering now). An old model I have in one of my cars that connects to such an antenna but does not cut out normal FM signals when the Sirius radio is on. This enabled me to switch to normal radio stations on the car radio without having to switch off the Sirius radio. However, this device disables the actual antenna signal when the Sirius radio is on. So if you want to switch to a regular radio station, you need to turn off the Sirius radio. One star deducted for that. Since this version is no longer produced either, it is not clear what Sirius/XM are aiming for with their marketing. They still sell separate radios, but even now, a few years after the merger, they have separate radios for Sirius and XM. The XM radio I bought was good and had a lot of features but compared to what I bought about 7-8 years ago (Sirius) what you get is a bit flimsy. The only connection method included is the direct contact audio accessory jack, so I had to purchase this item. Not sure what S/XM expects from you when you get a new satellite radio and your existing car radio doesn't have an audio jack. If I had to do it again I might look harder for an older model or an alternative product that gets the job done without FM signal interference.
