I bought this fan to cool down and also to be able to watch TV in bed at night. My old desk fan was so loud that the vibration drowned out the TV and I had to turn the volume up, which would be too loud for other people in the house at night. The Zicooler fan is much quieter because it doesn't have blades to cut through the air. However, if you use it on higher settings, it's not very quiet if that's what you want it to be. I found that in a small environment (bedroom) the medium setting provided adequate airflow without being overly noisy. If noise is not a problem for you, I think you will be very satisfied with this fan due to its compact design and the pulling power that comes with it.
