My old mouse pad was more traditional. It had a foam pad, probably 1/4 inch thick, with a hard plastic layer on top, and the plastic cracked around the edges. This mouse pad is completely different. It's wafer-thin, with a rubbery finish on the back and a smooth, woven fabric on the top. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but it works great - no getting used to it. The mouse is responsive, the delicacy is pleasant - I don't feel the edges of the pad under the wrist. The black and white cat design is cute. Best of all: the price is unbeatable! I paid less than $3 and it arrived in perfect condition within a day! Optional update: It cleans well! It got dirty from daily use, spilled food, etc. I spilled detergent on it, threw it in the laundry tub, gave it a twirl and it looked amazing!
