As with other reviews, I agree this product is WAY overpriced as I'm sure it only cost the manufacturer a few dollars to manufacture. Therefore there is immediately 1 star deduction for the greed. The product itself seems strong enough to replace an old fashioned cleated frame and offers excellent water resistance. The rim/lip is quite thick as other reviews have complained. But it's understandable given the solid construction, and if you install it per the instructions it should be almost flush with your cement board (which is what you want). I sanded mine a bit with #180 sandpaper to make sure my tile would stick well and sealed the seam at the cement board with cement board tape and covered the seam and boards with RedGuard and I'm pretty sure there weren't any Leaks will be issues. My only complaint about this product is that they know the purpose of this product is to stick tiles on it and have to make it with a rougher surface so they can stick and the price borders on the criminal. With an estimated 90% profit margin, I'm shocked that more plastic mold companies haven't entered this market to get a piece of this pie.
