UPDATED: Incredible customer service from retailer AlwaysOnline and their representative Angela! I'll explain why after this initial review: ORIGINAL: My production company uses radio to communicate on location during live TV production. As a director and cameraman, I interact with cameramen and camera assistants for one to three hours. The crew mostly listens and takes instructions. On the other hand, I say most; taking pictures, etc. On a recent job site visit, I was surprised an hour later by my radio's 'robot voice' saying the battery needs to be charged. No advance warnings, because once it's announced, the device doesn't broadcast, period. This is not good during a live performance when others are waiting for directions. (Suggestion to the Retevis engineers: have the robot announce "Battery Lowβ by voice when it reaches a certain low voltage threshold). Again, if I was talking most of the time, I actually had the radio to "talk" say, 80% of that hour. And I used PTT, not VOX. My guess is that like a cell phone, standby battery life equates to low power consumption (for my group that was listening), resulting in talk/transmission time draining battery life faster. ------- UPDATE, continued: After posting the original review (rated 3 stars), I received an email from Angela at AlwaysOnline. She was concerned about my dissatisfaction with the product and wanted to do her best to improve the situation. I replied to their email and explained that I don't think there was anything wrong but that my heavy transfer/talk use during that hour probably drained the battery and that I did it 3 times with 3 fully charged batteries for 3 hours tried with similar results. Angela wrote to me again and apologized for the inconvenience. She apparently ran some tests and confirmed that my analysis was correct, especially with the original batteries that come with the Retevis H-777 devices (3.7 volts, 1500 mAh). In my opinion, Angela then provided incredible customer service, telling me that she understood my specific needs and use of the radio (many transmissions), and sent me three batteries with more power for the Retevis radio (3.7 volts, 2800 mAh ) for free). ) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GBMC1IU/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=IYPYQIN2KDTDD&colid=28VTOP5BMDFK0WOW Now it is the customer service that guarantees customer satisfaction.
